Turin Caselle LIMF: 3,300 metres of runway under the western Alps
On the western Alps everyone looks at Geneva and Chambéry. Turin Caselle has 3,300 metres of runway, sits on flat ground, and serves an entire side of the range that you cannot reach from France without crossing a tunnel: Sestriere, Bardonecchia, Courmayeur, the Aosta valley. On those destinations it is the airport that genuinely shortens the journey.

What constrains the flight Operating notes written in Italian

3,300 metres and no queue
Turin Caselle has one runway, 18/36, 3,300 metres long, at 989 feet of elevation, on flat ground. There are no mountain approaches, no aerodrome qualifications, no slope constraints. On the western Alps it is the Italian twin of Grenoble: the airport where everything is ordinary. And unlike Geneva and Chambéry, where business aviation is the majority or close to it, at Turin private jets are a minority. In high season that means slots and stands that exist.
The side of the range it serves
From Turin you reach Sestriere and the Via Lattea, Bardonecchia, the Aosta valley and Courmayeur, and Cervinia. These are destinations you can only reach from France through the Fréjus or Mont Blanc tunnels, with times and queues that on holiday return days are not predictable. Anyone heading to this side and landing at Geneva or Lyon pays twice: in kilometres and at the tunnel. The arithmetic changes completely if the group is arriving from the south or the east of Europe.
The connection almost nobody knows about
From Cervinia you cross to Zermatt by cable car, through the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing, with luggage transport. Which means a flight to Turin can also serve Zermatt, four hours from Geneva on the Swiss side. It is not the answer for everyone — it depends on lift opening and weather — but it is an option no intermediary puts on the table, and on some dates it is the fastest.
How we work
Alpine Private Jet works with Air-Dynamic, a Swiss company that arranges charter flights and operates helicopter and air ambulance directly. On Turin we give you the honest comparison against Geneva and Lyon, tunnels and queues included, and the cost of the last leg. The intermediation fee is written into the quote. Quote in 1 minute.
Questions we get
How long is the runway at Turin Caselle?
Runway 18/36 measures 3,300 metres, at 989 feet of elevation. There are no limitations for business aircraft.
Does the crew need a special qualification?
No. Turin is a flat-terrain airport with ordinary procedures, like Grenoble and Lyon.
Which resorts does Turin serve?
Sestriere and the Via Lattea, Bardonecchia, the Aosta valley with Courmayeur, and Cervinia. From Cervinia you cross to Zermatt by cable car on the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing.
Is Turin congested in high season?
Far less than Geneva and Chambéry, where business aviation is a quarter and around 70% of traffic respectively. It is one of its main advantages in peak weeks.
What transfer times should I expect?
We do not publish them because no reliable official source exists: they depend on the tunnels and on road conditions. We calculate them for your date when we prepare the quote.
