Bergamo: open twenty-four hours, but on night flights we promise nothing
On paper it is always open. In practice, between eleven at night and seven in the morning, it depends.

What constrains the flight Operating notes written in Italian

What gets in
2,874 metres by 45, at 782 feet of elevation, with CAT IIIB ILS on runway 28 and customs on site. Any business jet gets in, long range aircraft included. Since June 2025 there has been a dedicated business aviation area, with access separate from the commercial terminal: a recent and useful change, because before that you went through the scheduled flight flow.
The prior permission, and one you do not need
Prior permission is compulsory and has to be sent at least twenty-four hours before arrival for non-scheduled flights and business aviation. Twenty-four hours, not two: it is the longest of the six airports we serve in northern Italy. One thing you often read that is not true for us: general aviation aircraft do not need an allocated slot. Slots concern scheduled commercial traffic; for us the flight plan is enough.
The night, and why we do not promise it
Between twenty-three hundred and seven the operator has sharply reduced departures, as part of a noise containment plan still under way. It is not a law of the state: it is a decision of the operator, and as such it can move in either direction. That does not make it any less binding for the client who wants to leave at five in the morning. When we are asked for a night flight out of Bergamo we check it before confirming, and if it is not there we say so.
The resorts it serves
Madonna di Campiglio in two and three quarter hours or three hours, with no passes at risk on the route. Livigno and Bormio, for the upper Valtellina, in about three hours. For Courmayeur it is possible but it is not the best call: Torino is closer and simpler. It matters to us that the client knows exactly what service he is buying, even when the honest answer is «not from here».
Questions we get
Is prior permission required at Bergamo?
Yes, and it has to be sent at least twenty-four hours before arrival. It is the longest notice among the airports we serve in northern Italy.
Does a private jet need a slot?
No. General aviation aircraft do not need an allocated slot: slots concern scheduled commercial traffic.
Can you depart at night from Bergamo?
We do not promise it. Between twenty-three hundred and seven the operator has sharply reduced departures. It is the operator's decision, not a law, and we check it before confirming.
What aircraft gets in?
Any business jet, long range aircraft included: 2,874 metres and a CAT IIIB ILS.
Which resorts does it serve?
Madonna di Campiglio in about three hours, Livigno and Bormio in about three hours. For Courmayeur, Torino is the better call.
Are there customs?
Yes, and there is also a dedicated business aviation area, opened in June 2025.
Tell us the date. We tell you where you land.
Give us the day and how many of you are travelling: we come back with the airport that holds up on that date, the aircraft that fits your luggage and what the last leg costs.
