At Courchevel the jet does not land: here is where you actually get off
The Courchevel altiport has 537 metres of runway and an 18.6% gradient. No business jet lands there. Anyone telling you otherwise has not looked at the numbers: what you actually have to decide is not whether to land at Courchevel, but which of the four valley airports to use, and how to cover the last thirty kilometres.

There is an altiport, but it is not for your aircraft
Courchevel has one of the most photographed runways in Europe: 537 metres, climbing at 18.6%, at 2,007 metres of altitude. It is an altiport, not an airport. The slope brakes you on landing and slings you on take-off, because the runway ends in thin air. There is no room to abort a take-off, and a jet, which always computes that margin, cannot operate there. Of roughly 6,500 movements a year, 4,500 are helicopters. The rest are light singles and twins with crews holding the specific altiport qualification. If an intermediary writes you 'private flight to Courchevel' without saying where the aircraft lands, they are selling you a headline, not a flight.
What constrains the flight Operating notes written in Italian

The four airports you actually need
Chambéry is closest: about ninety minutes by road. It is also the most fragile. Seventy per cent of its movements are business aviation, it has around thirty stands, no hangar at all, and on winter weekends it accepts a maximum of five arrivals an hour. Geneva is 150 km and two and a half hours away, has everything, but from mid-December to late April requires PPR both inbound and outbound with slots booked 21 days ahead. Grenoble and Lyon are 180 km out: Grenoble is the quiet one with 3,050 metres of runway, Lyon is open through the night and never says no, but you pay the difference in driving time. The choice is not made on a map, it is made on a date. The same trip on 27 December and on 12 March has two different answers.
The last leg: 25 minutes by helicopter from Chambéry
Chambéry to the Courchevel altiport is 25 minutes by helicopter, 35 from Geneva, 40 from Grenoble, 45 from Lyon, 20 from Val d'Isère and 20 from Megève. The altiport runs 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week, kept clear of snow permanently. The real constraint is capacity: five passengers per rotation. A group of eight is two flights, and ski bags fill the volume before the seats. If you prefer the road, Chambéry is about ninety minutes in normal conditions; from Moûtiers it is the last 24 km of hairpins, and those are what set your arrival time, not the flight.
Christmas, February and 22 December
The two weeks between Christmas and New Year and the February school holidays are when the airports start saying no. Not out of stubbornness: Chambéry runs out of stands, Geneva runs out of slots. Add that on 22 December 2026 Courchevel hosts the women's World Cup night slalom, and that day the valley is full by road as well. The practical rule is one: for peak dates the slot and the parking are requested before you choose the aircraft, not after.
How we work
Alpine Private Jet works with Air-Dynamic, a Swiss company that arranges charter flights and operates helicopter and air ambulance directly. We tell you first which airport holds up on your date, which aircraft fits with your luggage, and what the last leg costs to the altiport or to the chalet door. Our intermediation fee is stated in the quote. We do not book restaurants, tables or experiences: we move people and bags from A to B. Quote in 1 minute.
Questions we get
Can I really land at Courchevel in a private jet?
No. The LFLJ altiport runway is 537 metres long with an 18.6% gradient and has no margin to abort a take-off. Helicopters and small propeller aircraft with qualified crews operate there. The jet lands at Chambéry, Geneva, Grenoble or Lyon.
Which airport is fastest for Courchevel?
Chambéry, about ninety minutes by road or 25 minutes by helicopter. It is also the airport with the least capacity: around thirty stands, no hangar, and a maximum of five arrivals an hour on winter weekends.
How many passengers does the helicopter carry to Courchevel?
Five per rotation. A larger group needs two flights, which have to be planned and priced from the start together with the space for ski equipment.
Will I find a slot at Christmas?
It depends when you ask. Geneva's slot window opens 21 days ahead and fills on peak dates; at Chambéry Friday and Saturday overnight parking is assessed case by case. For the holidays, lock the slot and the stand before fixing the aircraft.
What happens if the weather turns?
At Chambéry, with a ceiling below 3,500 ft or visibility below 5,000 m, the crew needs the airport-specific training. The helicopter to the altiport flies visually and will not depart under low cloud: the last leg becomes road, and that should be planned in advance.
When does Courchevel open for 2026-27?
Lift opening for the 2026-27 season falls between 22 November and 13 December 2026. On 22 December 2026 the resort hosts the women's World Cup night slalom.
