Val d'Isère: 220 km from Geneva, or 40 minutes by helicopter
Val d'Isère is the French resort furthest from any airport: 220 km from Geneva, 240 from Lyon, three hours by road either way. The La Daille heliport cuts those three hours down to forty minutes. Every other decision on this trip turns around that one number.

The number that decides everything: three hours
Geneva to Val d'Isère is 220 kilometres and three hours by car. Lyon is 240 kilometres, also three hours. Chambéry is 135 kilometres and two hours, Grenoble 165 and two and a half. These are the resort tourist office's own figures, not estimates. It means a one-hour private flight from London or Milan turns into a full travelling day if you do the last part by road. That is why at Val d'Isère the helicopter is not an indulgence: it is half the total journey time.
What constrains the flight Operating notes written in Italian

The La Daille heliport and its hours
Val d'Isère has a heliport at La Daille, at the entrance to the resort. From there it is 40 minutes to Geneva, 35 to Chambéry, 35 to Annecy, 55 to Lyon, 20 to Courchevel. It runs 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week, and carries five passengers per rotation. That closing time matters more than it looks: a jet touching down at Geneva at 22:30 has no connection left, and the evening ends with three hours of valley road. When we quote an evening arrival we say so first, because the difference between landing at Geneva at 21:00 and at 22:00 is worth three hours of sleep.
Which airport, on which date
Chambéry is closest but most congested: around thirty stands, no hangar, five arrivals an hour maximum on winter weekends and PPR mandatory from mid-December to April. Geneva has everything but requires PPR both ways from 15 December to late April, with slots at 21 days. Grenoble has 3,050 metres of runway, opens 07:00 to 21:00 in winter and asks no special qualification of the crew: in the weeks when Chambéry is full it is often the right answer, even though it adds half an hour of driving. Lyon is the only one open at night, and the only one that survives a late return without argument.
December 2026: the Critérium
From 12 to 14 December 2026 Val d'Isère hosts the Critérium de la Première Neige: opening ceremony on Friday 12, men's giant slalom on Saturday 13, slalom on Sunday 14, on the Face de Bellevarde. Three days in which the valley and the Savoy airports work at full load and a stand at Chambéry is not found at the last minute. If that is your trip, the slot is requested in October, not in December.
How we work
Alpine Private Jet works with Air-Dynamic, a Swiss company that arranges charter flights and operates helicopter and air ambulance directly. We give you the airport that holds on your date, the aircraft that fits your luggage, and the last leg to the La Daille heliport or to the door. The intermediation fee is written into the quote. Questions we get
Which is the nearest airport to Val d'Isère?
Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc, 135 km and about two hours by road. By helicopter it is 35 minutes to the La Daille heliport.
How long does Geneva to Val d'Isère take?
220 km and three hours by car, or 40 minutes by helicopter. It is the sharpest gap of any French alpine resort.
How late does the helicopter fly?
The La Daille heliport operates 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week. An arrival at Geneva after 22:00 has no connection: the last leg becomes road.
How many people fit in one helicopter flight?
Five per rotation, luggage included. With skis and bulky bags the limit arrives from the baggage before the seats.
Chambéry or Grenoble?
In quiet weeks Chambéry, because it saves half an hour. At Christmas and in February often Grenoble, because Chambéry caps arrivals at five an hour and has neither hangar nor free stands.
When is the World Cup at Val d'Isère?
The Critérium de la Première Neige runs from 12 to 14 December 2026: giant slalom on Saturday 13, slalom on Sunday 14, on the Face de Bellevarde.
