Why the jet does not land here

Cortina has no runway, and no trains either

Cortina d'Ampezzo has no airport. The jet lands at Venice, 162 kilometres away according to the tourist board, or at Treviso, Verona or Innsbruck, and the last leg is by road: off the A27 onto the SS51 Alemagna road, or from the north off the A22 onto the SS49 Val Pusteria road. There is no railway: the nearest stations are Dobbiaco at 32 kilometres and Calalzo at 35. The only aviation infrastructure is the Fiames heliport at the northern entrance to the valley, whose hours for passenger transfers are not published.

Three races in three days

The FIS calendar for the 2026/27 season brings three women's World Cup races to Cortina: a downhill on Friday 15 January 2027, a second downhill on Saturday 16 and a super-G on Sunday 17. Start times are not in the calendar we read: we will add them here when the organiser publishes them. These are the days when the valley works at full capacity and the two access roads carry all the traffic: arrival is planned by the hour, not just by the day.

Venice, Treviso or Innsbruck

From the south the airports are Venice, Treviso and Verona, with Venice as the reference at 162 kilometres. From the north you come through Innsbruck, the Brenner and the Val Pusteria: the natural route if you arrive from Germany or Austria, but Innsbruck requires the crew to have trained on site in visual conditions or in a simulator to operate below a 3,000-foot cloud base or 5 kilometres of visibility. Milan is 432 kilometres away: almost always the wrong airport.

The weeks around it

The women's calendar puts Val di Fassa on 9 and 10 January, before Cortina, and a giant slalom at Kronplatz on Tuesday 19 January, right after. On the same days as Cortina, 15 to 17, the men's Lauberhorn runs at Wengen; from the 18th the World Economic Forum in Davos and Hahnenkamm week in Kitzbühel begin. Free aircraft and crews across the alpine arc become fewer: book the return together with the outbound flight.

How we work

Alpine Private Jet works with Air-Dynamic, a Swiss company that arranges charter flights and operates helicopter and air ambulance directly. For the Cortina races we put Venice and Innsbruck side by side, with the arrival time worked out on January roads, and the Fiames heliport only if the operator confirms it for the date. We do not sell race tickets. The intermediation fee is written into the quote. Quote in 1 minute.

Questions we get

Downhill on Friday 15 January 2027, second downhill on Saturday 16, super-G on Sunday 17, according to the FIS 2026/27 women's World Cup calendar.

Which airport for Cortina?

Venice, 162 kilometres away according to the tourist board. Treviso and Verona are alternatives to the south, Innsbruck to the north.

Can you reach Cortina by helicopter?

There is the Fiames heliport at the northern entrance to the valley, but its hours and availability for passenger transfers are not published. We confirm it with the operator for your date.

Is there a train to Cortina?

No. The nearest stations are Dobbiaco, 32 kilometres away, and Calalzo, 35.

Does Milan work for Cortina?

Hardly ever: Milan is 432 kilometres from Cortina. Venice is 162.

Are the race times confirmed?

The dates are, in the FIS calendar. Start times are not in the calendar we read: we add them when the organiser publishes them.

Tell us the date. We tell you where you land.

Give us the day and how many of you are travelling: we come back with the airport that holds up on that date, the aircraft that fits your luggage and what the last leg costs.
