Annecy LFLP: 1,598 metres of runway. Here is what that changes

Annecy is the closest airport to Megève and to the Haute-Savoie, and most destination pages mention it without giving the number that matters: the runway is 1,598 metres long. Light jets land on that, and some midsize aircraft lightly loaded. A Challenger or a Global does not. If someone offers you Annecy, the first question is which aircraft actually fits.

1,598 metres: the number that selects the aircraft

Annecy's runway 04/22 is 1,598 metres long and 30 wide, at 1,516 feet of elevation. For comparison: Chambéry has 2,020 metres, Grenoble 3,050, Sion 2,000, Samedan 1,840 but at 1,707 metres of altitude. Annecy sits at the low end. A light jet operates there without difficulty. A midsize depends on load and runway condition. A heavy twin does not. This is the figure that decides whether Annecy is the right airport for you, and it has to be assessed before you talk about times and prices, not after.

It closes at 19:00

In the winter period, 1 December to 30 April, Annecy is open every day from 08:00 to 19:00. There are no evening operations. A post-dinner departure from Annecy does not exist: if your plan is to leave at 21:00, the right airport is Geneva or Lyon. It is worth adding that the control tower's hours should be checked on NOTAM, which is normal for an airport of this size but is never necessary at a major one.

Where Annecy really wins: the helicopter

Annecy is a very well placed helicopter base: 30 minutes to Courchevel, 35 to Val d'Isère, 50 to the Verbier altiport. On those routes it works well as an interchange, above all for anyone arriving in an aircraft that fits. For large groups or heavy aircraft, the sensible combination remains Geneva or Lyon with a helicopter, or Chambéry.

How we work

Alpine Private Jet works with Air-Dynamic, a Swiss company that arranges charter flights and operates helicopter and air ambulance directly. At Annecy the check is simple and comes first: is the runway length compatible with the aircraft, the load and the expected conditions? If yes, it is a convenient airport. If not, we tell you before quoting it. Intermediation fee written into the quote. Quote in 1 minute.

Questions we get

How long is Annecy's runway?

1,598 metres by 30 wide, paved runway 04/22, plus an 845 by 60 metre grass strip. Elevation is 1,516 feet.

Which jets can land at Annecy?

Light jets operate without difficulty. Midsize aircraft depend on load and runway condition. Heavy long-range twins cannot: 1,598 metres is not enough.

What are the winter hours?

From 1 December to 30 April, every day from 08:00 to 19:00. There are no evening or night operations.

Is PPR required?

Yes, for all commercial and private flights, requested online through the MyHandling system.

How long is the helicopter to the resorts?

Thirty minutes to Courchevel, thirty-five to Val d'Isère, fifty to Verbier.

Is there fuel?

Yes, JET A1 and AVGAS 100LL.

Tell us the date. We tell you where you land.

Give us the day and how many of you are travelling: we come back with the airport that holds up on that date, the aircraft that fits your luggage and what the last leg costs.
