Megève's altiport, at the Côte 2000, has a 15/33 runway of 548 metres by 30 in concrete, at a 7% gradient, 1,472 metres up. On paper it is the longest of the three Savoy altiports, longer than Courchevel's 537 metres and much longer than Méribel's 406. But in winter that runway is groomed rather than cleared: compacted snow remains. The consequence is that access is reserved for ski-equipped aircraft. This is not a temporary restriction or an exception: it is how the altiport operates in season. From Annecy it is twenty, from Chambéry twenty-five, from Lyon forty-five, from Courchevel twenty, from Val d'Isère twenty-five.
